A strange and funny love story between a young manager, who has only his career in mind, and a mature woman of the South of Italy, who lives in the same building. It pictures the existential crisis of the man, who seeks refuge in the small, warm, simple world of the woman, made of small but real things. The film is like an apologue representing the changes of the modern world, also through the clash between two different cultures and life styles. Miss Giulia’s world is doomed to die.
The film shows the contrast between North and South, technological and rural world, money and soul. After nine years, it is still up to date, even more so than when it was made. It foresaw the doubts and questions of today.
